Scottish Folk Songs

I love, love, love, Scottish Folk Songs!!!

My story with these songs are kind of funny. I already have five Cd's of them, plus two cd's that I combined into one because some of the songs were random. I have always loved listening to music from different cultures. I made two Cd's of jewish songs even though I am Catholic. Hava Nagila is so fun to dance to!! I also made a CD of Native American music like the "cherokee morning song" and amazing grace in cherokee. There was alot of Joanne Shenandoah songs on it. Though I loved those Cd's, I got over them, and had no desire to make more of them. As for scottish songs, well, I have five, and will probably make more later.

I drive my mother crazy with these songs. I have so many favorites. These songs tell a story, they have such history attached to them that sometimes I get sad when I don't completely understand the history. The sound of the flutes, and bagpipes are beautiful. The bagpipes always makes me think of the open ladscape of Scotland. I learned in animal behavior that there are alot of hawks in Scotland, and sometimes when I listen to the songs I can imagine that the melodies came from watching a hawk glide in the sky. The lyrics are so nice. I get tired of music about love and sex when I admit I don't have a love life. Scottish music is just nice, it makes you feel good, like you want to sit out in the sunshine or fight for something you believe in.

I guess I'm weird. I don't see alot of teenage girls like me saying they love Scottish music. Where I am from anything that isnt pop or rap is uncool. Thats just how I am though. Maybe my mind spends too much time trying to keep me from boredom.

Here are some of my favorite Scottish Folk Songs:
